Cake Decorating

A beautiful cake is a lovely gift for anyone's birthday.  How much fun is it when you can actually make that beautiful cake!  We have had the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Tillery's beautiful cakes, and I asked her if she would be willing to give a small cake decorating lesson to my older girls and some of their friends.  This is what transpired.

She began showing them how to make their cakes even.

They crumb coated the cake.  

And then they practiced making trim on a plastic coated, reusable sheet.  Brilliant.

Next, it was time for cutting out decorative pieces from marshmallow fondant.  

They frosted the cake and put trim around the edges before adding their fondant decorations.

These were their masterpieces.  

And they tasted as good as they looked!
